One Crazy Summer

One Crazy Summer is about 3 sisters, Delphine, Vonetta and Fern, who travel to Oakland, California, in 1968 to meet the mother who abandoned them. Join them as they march for freedom in the 'black' summer camp for justice and freedom, the Black Panther, and find out will Cecile change and be a loving mother or will she yet again abandon them.

One Crazy Summer won the Scott O'Dell award for Historical Fiction, Newbery Honor Book, Coretta Scott King Award and was a National Book Award Finalist.
